What’s Unique About Mount Vernon High School?
MVHS actively supports our district motto, “Promoting Excellence in Academics, Arts, and Athletics” with a comprehensive academic program including over 30 core courses in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science, 8 advanced placement on-line courses, access to college level/credit courses, Special Education staff serving learning/behaviorally challenged students and many performing arts groups, including art, drama, music and speech.
The high school also offers an extensive elective course curriculum including music, visual arts, industrial technology, business/information technology and family and consumer science classes. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in a varied co-curricular programs including 18 competitive sports through the WaMaC Conference and many special interest clubs, including archery, robotics, Academic Decathlon, art club, book club, newspaper (Mustang Moon), Science Olympiad, Spanish club and Student Council.
